Cities & Development
Workshop in DC

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

The Cities and Development Workshop in DC is a day-long convening bringing together policymakers with world-leading academics to debate scholarship and practice on urban issues. Co-hosted by the Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins in Washington, DC, the aim of this event is to foster partnerships around problems that policymakers are grappling with in cities, and ways to address those challenges through research findings. The workshop will feature the presentation of academic papers and engaging dialogues with policymakers from global cities.

SAIS is a world-leading school of international affairs, and international development is one of its key areas of expertise. The Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University works to advance public sector innovation across the globe by marrying cutting-edge practice with world-class research to transform the culture of government and deliver exceptional results for residents with more than 60 city halls worldwide.

The workshop is supported by a 2023 JHU Nexus grant.
