Digital Innovation Teams

Digital Innovation Teams

Bloomberg Philanthropies has launched over 50 Innovation Teams (i-teams) to deliver better results for residents by creating in-house, dedicated innovation capacity in city government.

Now an initiative of the Center, i-teams deploy human-centered design, data-driven practices, behavioral insights, and other innovation techniques to test and evaluate new solutions, while also demonstrating a new way of working to practitioners in city government.

The Center currently partners with six global cities in five countries to accelerate digital transformation in city government. The program establishes a team of data scientists and digital government experts in each city that focuses on solving high-priority issues through government innovation. The three-year grants will help mayors use data and digital technologies to enhance public services and create new value for communities.

2.

Digital Governance, Standards, Policy, and Metrics Development

A program in governance, standards, and policy will collect legislation, operational memoranda, standard operating procedures, and design standards that can be shared and implemented by local governments around the world. The Center will also outline digital metrics for the public sector and compare them with private industry standards.
